Winter Closure and January Return

The library closes at 5 PM on Wednesday, December 20th and will reopen on January 3rd, 2024 at 10 AM. For information on other libraries on campus, please visit the holiday hours page. 

From January 3-5, our hours will be 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. We will be closed on Saturday, January 6, and reopen to regular hours on Monday, January 8th. 

Please note that during the winter term, on Saturdays, we will be closing briefly from 2:30-2:45. Saturday hours will be 12:00- 2:30 and 2:45- 5:00.

The library will close for 15 minutes on the following Saturdays: October 7, November 4, November 11, November 18 and November 25.

Get Your Toronto Public Library Card at Robarts

 

On September 26 and 27, the Toronto Public Library will be present at Robarts Library, extending a warm invitation to U of T students. During this event, students can acquire their complimentary Toronto Public Library cards, opening doors to a world of knowledge and resources.

August 1, 2023

The MHL will be closed on Friday August 4th and Monday August 7th for the Civic Holiday long weekend.

June 20, 2023

The MHL will be opening at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 21st. 

May 11, 2023

On Monday, May 15, we will close at 6 PM. As of Tuesday, May 16 we will resume summer evening hours and close at 7 PM, Monday - Thursday. 

May 3, 2023

The library's hours from May 1- May 12 will be 10-5 from Monday - Friday. 

April 25, 2023

For the week of May 1, the library will be open from 10-5. We hope to resume normal summer hours the following week. 

April 14, 2023

On Saturday, April 15, we will have reduced hours and will be open from 12:00-2:30 PM. 

April 10, 2023

Effective April 10th, the library will be closing at 7 PM on Mondays and Thursdays for the rest of April. As of April 19th, the library will also be closing at 7 PM on Wednesdays for the rest of the month.

The library will close early on Saturday, January 14 at 2:30 PM. 

December 15, 2022 - Update to Library Opening Hours

The library will be closed on Saturday, December 17th. On Monday, December 19 and Tuesday, December 20th, we will be open 10-5 PM before we close for the winter break. We will reopen on January 2, 2023.

If you wish to borrow any short term loan items, you may do so now until January 4th. 

November 18, 2022

The library will open at 2:30 on Saturday, November 19th. Any books returned to the book drop before 2:30 will be checked in. 

November 17, 2022

December Hours

We will be closing at 7 PM on Monday, December 12, closed on Saturday December 17, and at 5 PM on Monday, December 19th and Tuesday, December 20th. We will be closed December 21 - January 1, open 10-5 January 2-6, and resume regular hours on January 9, 2023.

On Saturdays from October 29 - November 12, the MHL will be open from 12-2:30 and 2:45-5:00 PM.

The library will be closing early, at 7 PM, on Monday, September 26, - Wednesday, September 28th, 2022. We resume normal hours (closing at 9 PM) on Thursday, September 29th.

Our fall hours are:

September 5 - closed for Labour Day holiday

September 6-9 - Open 11-5

September 12- December 20, 2022: Monday - Thursday, 10:00- 9:00 PM; Friday 10:00- 5:00 PM; Saturday, 12:00- 5:00 PM. Closed on Sundays. Saturdays are by fob access only. 

October 10, 2022 - Closed for Thanksgiving. 

If you want to book a research consultation, you may do so with a librarian between 9:00- 4:30 PM. Please e-mail Holly Inglis or Sean Forbes to book an appointment. Virtual is preferred; let us know your question, where you have searched, when you are available for an appointment, and if you prefer Zoom or Teams.

Due to staffing changes, the library will now be closing at 4:30 PM in July and August. Our hours will be 11-4:30, Monday - Friday.

Remote access to Bloomberg ends on June 30, 2022. As of July 1 onwards, you can access Bloomberg in the Finance Lab or in the MHL.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Milt Harris Library will be closing at 5pm this week.

February 4, 2022

We are reopening on Monday, February 7th. The Rotman building remains open to fob holders only. 

Our hours will be Monday - Thursday from 11:00- 7:00; Friday from 11:00- 5:00. 

Library Policies

Masks must be worn at all times. 

There will be hand sanitizer available just outside the library for you to use before entering as well as hand sanitizer in various places in the library. 

No food or drink allowed in the library.

Only 5 patrons are allowed in the library at a time. 

Computer use: When finished using a computer, use the supplied wipe to wipe down the keyboard and mouse. Computers are for research use only and researchers using SDC will be given priority on that terminal. 

Do not move study space chairs. They are appropriately distanced. If you need to use a computer terminal that does not have a chair, please speak to a staff member. 

If you are not a Rotman student but need a book from our library, please email us at bicstaff@rotman.utoronto.ca. You can return the book to Robarts unless otherwise instructed. 

All research appointments remain virtual. We are not doing research consultations in person due to space capacity. 

 

January 20, 2022

The library will reopen (to Rotman fob holders only) on Monday, February 7th. We will be open from 11 AM - 7 PM, Monday - Thursday, and 11-5 PM on Fridays. Research appointments remain virtual, and curbside book pickup will be available. 

January 4, 2022

Happy New Year! The MHL will remain closed. Books can be requested, however, a staff member will be going in once a week only to process requests. 

Faculty, if you have any links you would like checked for our syllabus service, please send them in as soon as possible. This is for Rotman graduate programs only; undergraduate need to contact Robarts for assistance: https://www.rotman.utoronto.ca/FacultyAndResearch/BIC/Services-for-Faculty

Students, if you have a research request, we're happy to assist via e-mail or virtual consultation. Consults are available between 9-4:30, Monday - Friday.

The deadline to request a book to borrow from the MHL collection is Tuesday, December 21 at 12 PM. The library is closed from December 22 - January 2, 2022. 

In January, the MHL will remain closed and continue virtual services and curbside book pickup. You can return books to Robarts book drop as well.

November 3, 2021

If you have booked a computer terminal for research:

Please use the hand sanitizer provided

When you are finished, used the wipe provided to clean off your keyboard and mouse. These wipes are purchased specifically for the computer terminals as they will not damage the keyboards. If you would like gloves, ask at the reference desk. The garbage is outside of the library, across from the elevator.

If you have a book due back to the MHL, please return it to the Robarts book drop. 

The exception is for course reserves that are three hour loans - staff will make arrangements for the return with you when you borrow them. Only Rotman graduate students with fobs can borrow course reserves at this time.

Please note these plans are subject to change and updates will be posted on this page. As of September 7, 2021, the MHL services will be available as outlined below. 

The Rotman building will be fob access only in September, therefore only Rotman graduate students, staff and faculty will have access. During this time, the MHL will remain closed and will not be available as a study space; the majority of our services will be available virtually.

Fob holders may book appointments for the following:

  1. Borrowing books, including course reserves
  2. Using the photocopier, printer, or scanner
  3. Using SDC/Venture Capital

Our computers will not be available for any use outside of the above-mentioned software or printing. No browsing, e-mail, or other research. Bloomberg is not available; contact the Finance Lab for virtual access. 

You must send an appointment request at least 3 hours in advance.  They are available between 9:00- 5:00 (last appointment time at 4:30, closure time at 5), Monday – Friday. Contact bicstaff@rotman.utoronto.ca for an appointment. 

If you are a Rotman Commerce student or a U of T student in another program and need to borrow material, please e-mail us and we will make arrangements (similar to curbside pickup, details TBD).  A reminder to faculty that course reserves for Rotman Commerce should be at Robarts library.

If you would like to book a research appointment with a librarian, please contact Holly Inglis or Sean Forbes. Include your research topic, where you have searched, preferred meeting times, and if you prefer to meet via Teams or Zoom.

Safety measures:

Plexi glass will be installed around the reference desk to help with distancing; there are capacity limits that will be adhered to during appointment times. The seating in the library area is blocked off and can not be used.
