Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Rotman School of Management.

Each year, the Rotman School of Management marks a significant milestone with spring Convocation. For graduates, it is a remarkable moment, a time to celebrate academic accomplishment and personal achievement. It is also cause for pride and celebration for their classmates, family and friends, as well as for the faculty and staff who are committed to the success of our graduates.

In this year’s Convocation, which took place  on Tuesday, June 20, 591 students from the MBA, MFin, MFRM and PhD programs crossed the floor of Convocation Hall to receive their diplomas. In my remarks, I thanked those assembled for their strong sense of community and collaboration, and for enriching the lives of those who shared in their Rotman School journey.

As our many proud alumni can attest, the relationship with the Rotman School only deepens with time. The alumni community extends around the world, and is truly an inspiring, ambitious and accomplished group. We welcome Rotman alumni to come back to the School as mentors and advisors, and at speaking and networking events that enhance their knowledge and expand their circle with new contacts.

To those graduating, we wish each and every one of you our very best. We will be cheering you on as you put your stamp on the world and achieve new milestones in business and beyond.

At this time of year too, new students begin to arrive at Rotman to embark on a business degree. We urge you to take full advantage of everything that is happening in this dynamic and inspiring place and are grateful you have chosen to earn your degree with us.

For those still exploring what Rotman offers, take a moment to learn about the wide range of initiatives and programs that make our school a global hub for management education. As Canada’s leading business school, Rotman is proud to offer a world-class educational experience for students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well for professionals at all stages of their career.

In an increasingly complex and interconnected world, there has never been a greater need for intrepid, incisive and inventive managers and leaders. The advancement of knowledge through evidence-based research is indispensable to solving our most pressing problems, and to achieving economic prosperity and social well-being.

It is the opportunity to put these beliefs into action that most excites me about our work here at the Rotman School. I hope you join us for the next chapter of our exciting journey.
