Teaching of Business Design and Innovation Strengthened at UofT’s Rotman School with New Appointment.

Toronto – A new appointment at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management will strengthen the School’s teaching of Business Design.

Angèle Beausoleil is an assistant professor, teaching stream, in Business Design and Innovation, in the Rotman School's marketing area. In addition to developing and delivering new courses, she will be collaborating with Rotman DesignWorks, the school’s Business Design Centre on industry projects to deepen students' learning and advance innovation practices.

Business Design is a human-centred approach to innovation. It applies the principles and practices of design to help organizations create new value and new forms of competitive advantage. At its core, Business Design is the integration of empathy, co-creation and innovation strategy.

Prof. Angèle Beausoleil brings deep industry experience to her teaching of design methodologies for business innovation. She also leads action research inside organizations on innovation process design, navigation and management. A former communications designer, marketer, strategist and innovation lab executive, she applies her years of business experience to crafting high impact teaching and student-centred learning experiences. She joins the Rotman School after lecturing at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, teaching executive MBAs Innovation Leadership, and Applied Innovation and Design. Prior to UC Berkeley, she lectured at UBC Sauder School of Business where she taught Design Methods for Business Innovation, Creativity in Business, New Product Development, Strategy and Integrated Decision-Making capstone, and Design Research Methods. She holds a PhD and a Master’s degree from the University of British Columbia.
