Fall 2017 convocation: congratulations to all our recent grads

November 14, 2017

Fall Convocation 2017Whether they are taking on new faculty positions at leading universities, breaking into a new industry or continuing with their current roles at full force, the Rotman School of Management’s 132 new graduates are ready to make their mark. And faculty, staff and family members were on hand at Fall convocation, on November 8, to honour new graduates from the PhD, GDipPA and various MBA programs, and wish them luck on the journey ahead.

For the PhD class of 2017, their years of hard work at the School have certainly paid off. Many have landed junior faculty positions at renowned research institutions around the world, including McGill University, McMaster University, Ryerson University, the University of Waterloo, Case Western Reserve University, Emory University, Temple University, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of New South Wales and the City University of Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, members of the GDipPA ’17 class — the second cohort to graduate from this unique Rotman program — are well on their way to becoming accounting professionals. After spending their summer completing assignments, writing intensive exams and participating in case competitions, many of these new grads had only a few weeks of rest before starting accounting roles at major banks and consulting firms.

At the reception following the ceremony, Susan Christoffersen, vice-dean, undergraduate and specialized programs, expressed her pride in all of the Rotman School’s new graduates. She noted that this was a moment of celebration for all the emerging scholars, leaders and young professionals who had graduated — and for the faculty and staff who continue to push for their success.

Congratulations, graduates!
